Great Site

I like it better here. The people are nicer. There arent any jerks who's answer is always "just get the hell out and stop whining". I'll leave when I'm darn good and ready and not one second before.

I've given this much thought.

I think a bit of "tough love" -- telling someone the sobering truth as you see it, for example -- is sometimes required.  So I appreciated a large measure of the "straight talk" from the voices on EP ILIASM.

However, knowing that direct talk is sometimes warranted is NOT a license to beat that drum incessantly... or take the drum and beat someone over the head, expecting immediate acceptance of "what worked for me must be exactly what will work for you!"  Sometimes those voices were impatient... sometimes to the point of rudeness, IMO.  Furthermore, even wise, experienced folks sometimes get a wrong read of a newcomer's situation; open-minded listening is still required.

In other words: I think humor AND humility are very important tools for us to try to "administer aide" to newcomers to ILIASM.  I see it here now in large measure... and I hope it becomes a permanent hallmark of this site.

THAT is what will keep this a "Great Site".

This is a very "adult" place, in the best sense of the word, we are all in the same boat to varying degrees and the common shared experiences help make this a safe and non threatening place. I've been accused of being flippant sometimes and if I come across this way, I can only apologise, blame the English sense of humour that is steeped in sarcasm and the fact that its a bloody great way of coping with all the stress that comes our way .
Don't be afraid to ask questions, you only take advice if you want to, so always try and resist the knee jerk reactions and rash actions . This site is here to help us survive and grow, so lets have fun, grumble a little and even shed the odd tear or four but most importantly of all TALK .
