I just got done texting ballofconfusion that I found a couple videos that we should porn critique. Her response was "Yes! Tonight"

It's an interesting journey. When a hot and sexy scene would come on during her marriage, her ex would say "claaaaaasy" and change the the channel. Mine wouldn't watch the TV but would watch me for reaction. To which I sat stone faced. There's no way I would have turned to my ex and said something like "this gives me ideas, you?"

BOC and I like shows like Game of Thrones or fictional period pieces such as Outlander. Lots of naked flesh and often we would watch it naked ourselves. Thanks to the miracle of the pause button we would eventually even finish episodes.

When BOC and I first moved in last year, there was a super bowl halftime show with some sexy dancing by the performers. I had my stone face firmly planted. I think it's because it was a woman gyrating on the screen by herself and not a "sexy romantic scene". In my past experience if I "noticed" this I would get in "trouble".

We actually chatted about this quite a bit afterwards. It's kind of sad. There I was, a middle aged man, having it explained to me that there is a big difference between staring at a scantily clad performer on stage drooling and pretending that there was nothing on the screen at all. One is just rude and the other is disingenuous. BOC is really really good at helping me see these differences without guilt or shame.

A similar conversation later came up around porn. I wanted to try watching it together. I've got a bit of a voyeuristic taste and it feels a bit "naughty" to watch with her. This time it was my turn to set BOC at ease. This isn't about fantasizing with being with someone else, but about watching two people get it on, turning each of us on a bit, and perhaps getting some ideas.

We've actually talked quite a bit about what we each like and dislike. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I'm a bit more wide ranging in that regard than she is. However, there are still tons of common interests. We also set a few ground rules. No problem looking for this together or separately. However, if separate, we don't use it to take care of ourselves. It's actually way harder to find what we like than you'd think. That's one reason we look for it separately. It's a buzz kill to just open pornhub and surf. Ughhhh. No thanks...the only exception to that is when we pick a clip for purely comedic value. It is fun to laugh at what some porn producers think is sexy, watching a guy just have "jabby" sex with the poor girl, or how badly some female porn stars fake an orgasm. Porn really can be funny to watch.

So we went from exes who looked at a sex scene with scorn to us being a pair of amateur porn critics. I fucking love it!

We explored female friendly / "ethical" porn, including subscribing to some services for a month.

Honestly it was dull as dishwater to us. As we were "easing into it" (pun intended), I wanted to gauge ballofconfusion comfort level. Repeatedly she kept saying something along the lines of "just get on with it already" or "fast forward a bit".

Perhaps it would work better for ladies who need more "ramp up" than traditional porn or for couples feeling awkward watching sex scenes together.

BOC and I are in a weird middle ground where we are already comfortable with the idea of watching sex scenes so don't need the slow ramp up. On the other hand we don't want to go off the deep end either.

Oh and last night's comedy porn screening was a success. 2 for 2 on video selection then we showed them how it is REALLY done 😂
