Looking back in my final years of my SM, I found myself doing more and more psychoanalysis of my W's family when they would all b e over the house for Thanksgiving.. Searching for the "why" answer. ( that helped, some. Instead of remaining blind to the abuse I was putting up with)
Then there was the times of avoidance of the W during the whole event and enjoying the kids. ( avoidance is a band aid approach)
Coming to a place of numb acceptance that " this is how it's going to be" lasts for a while.
Enjoy all of your other blessings and concentrate on making yourself joyful, peaceful, and thankful for all that you have to offer to those who appreciate it!
My woman , my son , and I are going out to eat at Cracker Barrel today. Zero clean up and left overs. I purchased a new smokeless fire pit on Halloween. I use it 3 to 4 times a week . It's very relaxing and enjoyable. My woman loves to sit with me by it. It reminds her of childhood memories. Expecting a very nice 66 to 70 degree evening tonight here in Central Fl. ( already had my morning of sex and intimacy in opposite land)

Sounds like a great Thanksgiving for you greatcoastal. Nearly perfect except for that Cracker Barrel thing. Surely there had to be a better choice nearby. 😁 My Thanksgiving will be a daughter's house with W and other daughter and grandkids. There will be leftovers and we are taking empty Tupperware for it. Enjoy your day.

W and I made deviled eggs, cranberry-orange relish-sauice, COSTCO cheese cake and taking it to daughters house forth main meal. Leftovers? ? I suppose there will be some. Nothing wrong with Cracker Barrel. Morning sex would be a real treat. Greatcoastal, I am happy it happened for you and your partner

Nothing much happening on my T-Day. The kids are committed to 3-4 meals at their mom's and grandmoms so I don't try to compete. I will have a get together in the weeks to come. So I spent the day communing with the roughly 1 million leaves that have fallen this year.
And Cracker Barrel is a great place for breakfast.

I started my Thanksgiving by setting up my cooking by remote control, Wednesday evening. idgaf96 completed her divorce this summer, and we have bought a house together. We had family and friends over, totalling twenty-five. As if we didn't prepare enough food for everyone, most of the guests also brought food. It really was a feast. When everyone was full, I figure maybe a third of the food had been eaten, and I am glad our guests took a lot home so it didn't go to waste. I won't be able to visit family this holiday season given two thousand miles and limited time, but I enjoyed talking with them via phone. My kids still choose to be estranged from me, but that isn't anything I can change.

Hubby cooked, which was actually nice. I had to work, which actually came highly compensated. I enjoyed the meal then off I went. It was a win-win. Just us and the dog.

I spent my first Thanksgiving away from my kids and my sexless marriage with my new special friend and her kids. I thought it would be a bit strange being away from my kids and not being able to tell them where I was, but I spent some time with them before I left to celebrate our Thanksgiving and then enjoyed spending time out of town. The great sex and intimacy with my new friend was just a big added bonus. I helped her with some fix-it projects around the house and replaced the headlights in her Jeep for her and she kept me well satisfied and made me feel wanted. I am headed home tomorrow, but with three or four more trips already scheduled for her to come and see me or me to come back down to see her, the future is bright indeed.

This is the first Thanksgiving I got to spend with my boyfriend's family. Up until now we did it with my kids and their families and then he would meet his kids alone because his daughter refused to meet me. This year he decided to have his son and fiance and mom over. Last minute his daughter decided to come over. Hoping this will continue to improve .

We have a boarder with us and his mother is an "orphan".
My daughter and I conspired to praise her son if she started her usual insufferable habit of criticizing him relentlessly. It worked. The subject got steered towards topics rather then her hurtful opinions.
The mother brought a winning fresh green bean casserole and a terrific bouquet of flowers. My sister caught and indulged my urgent hand signals to nix political talk. The mom is evangelical and had raved to me about "What are the Odds", by Mike Lindell. I mean, what were the odds any wholesome debate would end with, "Y'know? You have a point."
The evening should have been a cluster F, but the spirit of the holiday prevailed and overall it was pleasant. The sense of victory over the tiresome cliché of Thanksgiving squabbling upgraded it to "good".
Food was superb. That never hurts, amiright?

Congratulations to both of you, and your families! THIS sounds like a milestone achievement! A real turning of the page! Please feel free to elaborate for those of us who still check in " opposite land".

My Thanksgiving was a week affter the holiday but that didn't stop us from enjoying the family fellowship and the kids having a good time with my dog. The dog also seeemed to be having a swell time chasing the kids through the house and around the yard. When evveryone left the dog collapsed into her kennel and fell asleep almost instantly, from exhaustion I presume.

My Thanksgiving was a week after the holiday but that didn't stop us from enjoying the family fellowship and the kids having a good time with my dog. The dog also seemed to be having a swell time chasing the kids through the house and around the yard. When everyone left the dog collapsed into her kennel and fell asleep almost instantly, from exhaustion I presume. Dogs are smarter than we give them credit for! A dog's giving, and excitement is something the whole family can be thankful for. Was the ex out of the picture? Not part of any conversations?

No X as she does the holidays with her daughter and grandkids.
