For me it is three syllables, ILLY-AH-SUM, with emphasis on the first syllable. Isn't that four syllables? You are absolutely right. Il-ee-ah-sum. I stand corrected. Emphasis still on the first syllable.

The same way you would say msaili. Only backwards. (or basackwards- if you prefer) ( I don't think I'm going to loose much sleep over this one!)

I see it as a kind of spectrum. You have orgasm at the top, representing heaven Then phantasm in the middle when you are still dreaming... And iliasm at the very bottom when you know you are truly in the shit I think unmatched has just inspired me to come up with our new tagline: "ILIASM: Where you turn when the other '-asm' is missing from your marriage."

In my head it's "islam" but I don't think I've had an opportunity to try to say to anyone.

There are some letter jumbles that are pronounceable, and we call these acronyms. OSHA, FEMA, and NASCAR are examples of acronyms. ILIASM, to me, I never considered pronounceable, just cool as hell.
My impression is that it rhymes with orgasm. Coincidence?

It seems I am not the only one who saw "islam" the first time I saw ILIASM. I still have to do a double-take to prevent myself from hearing that pronunciation in my brain, but then again I AM dyslexic Honestly, I have given up on trying to pronounce it, I just remember it as a sequence of letters ... "eye ell eye a ess em" Makes it easier to type in the browser address bar.
