Guys, Ladies, Short update on Northwest IL mbrs' some of got together for drinks. It was a lively, fun, unpretentious and "feels at home" meeting for me. I really appreciated my fellow board mbrs coming together. I have kept in touch occasionally. I am omitting details intentionally - No mbr's were harmed or inconvenienced in this meeting. I am writing here to encourage if there's other areas where people can meet and or other IL mbrs, could write me. I see potential for IRL friendships - not necessarily of sexual nature, but it was just good energy to meet people in the same boat. Awww! That sounds like a lot of fun. I would love to go to a get together. Unfortunately I don't think there is anyone else from the Seattle area on the site these days. Bummer.

I had no idea ironhamster and idgaf96 lived in my neck of the woods.

I'm in Tacoma, working in Auburn, and exploring when I can. I went mountain biking at Steven's Pass a few weeks ago. I love my new home state.

Lots of places to mountain bike around here. Why did you decide to move to the area?

I can think of lots of reasons, but it comes down to what I want my quality of life to be. Mountain biking and kayaking are popular here, and I am closer to idgaf96. Staying in Illinois was not to my advantage, either, as my likely alimony would have locked me into seventy hour work weeks. My new employer bases the work week on forty hours. This means that for the first time in twenty-five years I will have a life outside of work.

You know the high humidity summer where you are happy to have air conditioning? It doesn't happen out here. As much fun as my old job was, I have had my last day ever a hundred feet in the air in subzero temperatures with a crosswind trying to get a crane working again. The only time I will experience cold is when I choose to go skiing or head back there to endure it for the sake of the warm hugs of loved ones.

South central Montana, where some towns are 50+ miles apart.
