There are a number of people on this site who have not selected an image to represent themselves. Some of those folks have hundreds of posts. Obviously that is their business, but I'm curious to know why? Why would you choose to let the grey egg-headed androgynous person be what people see when they think of you?

Sexless marriages can make you feel like a shadow of a person instead of a real person. My initial avatar was a generic black icon of a man with a tie. Over the past year I slowly filled in the silhouette and colorized it until it sort of looks like me. In a way this was meant to show how I was becoming my own person again. Thinking of losing the tie, though. I was wearing one every day at work partially to cover a thyroid surgery scar (that no one would notice unless they were looking for it.) About a month ago I realized that I don't really care if people saw the scar and I stopped wearing the tie. Just a tiny further step in becoming my own person instead of worrying about what others might think.

And I totally get what you mean by being a shadow of a person, my image has always been a wrench because I feel like such a tool. I hope to one day replace that wrench with something that better reflects my true personality. But I still gotta say, it feels like that little grey guy is designed to encourage people to replace it. I'm looking forward to hearing from someone who is still using the grey person.

I'm looking forward to hearing from someone who is still using the grey person. I just haven't felt motivated enough to spend the 1/2 hour or whatever it would take to create an avatar. I do acknowledge that doing so would help readers distinguish us gray, egg-headed people from each other in the readers' minds. In addition, as an undercover agent for MI6, it's not a good idea to have lots of people know what I look like.

If you make it to the "online dating world" You will learn real quick that people will ask " show us a picture, what do you look like" and not from the neck up. That in itself says, " I am embarrassed to show my body". It also says " I can not be honest". Then comes the " is this a recent picture, and is it really you".
I have politely explained to people before on here, Age matters. How I address a woman who is young enough to be my daughter verses my own age, makes a difference. Location, what are your customs and tradition, that makes a difference. looks and appearance? It's easier to relate and remember, but yes it makes a difference!

I’m with jamesbonding. I have not taken the time to create an Avatar. Can you even create one on an iPhone?? If I give you a description, would that help?? 😀

I’m with jamesbonding . I have not taken the time to create an Avatar. Can you even create one on an iPhone?? If I give you a description, would that help?? 😀 If you want to create an avatar on an iPhone, I suggest the app Bitmoji. But it doesn't have to be an avatar, it could be a photo you like or whatever, just something for people to associate you with. Of course if you like the grey person that's cool too. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, just curious why some folks don't change it.

From your phone, your only option is to upload something you made elsewhere. Bitmoji is a good app for that.

There's no excuse for having a gray headed egg person for your avatar. Like life in Woodville said, it doesn't have to be you. My picture is a portrait of a Norse goddess painted by a dead author which I took off of Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure there's no legal impropriety involved in co-opting such a photo. Use something like that, people! I would not recommend or expect that people would use their actual photo as an avatar but use something to make it pretty!

Also how about like a lighter tortoise shell on the glasses? I'm not too fond of the ones you have on there now. He he he

It took me 30 seconds to download an image from pinterest on my phone then upload it to be my avatar here. Maybe 1 minute total time. Say goodbye to the eggheads! sadkat find a sad cat picture! Tee heee!
