Proboards, I think, is free. It may be possible to create an ILIASM annex with trusted members as admins. They could police spam vigorously, maybe limit posts for new members, if that is a setting that is allowed. Lift the limits if a new member posts something substantive and is clearly interested in teh subject matter at hand. Again, who has the time? But I'm floating ideas. In this annex, we could link to original ILIASM articles, as needed.
Instructions for blocking users:
www.proboards.com/user-guide/profile-privacy/blocking-membersClick the "Profile" button found in the top menu bar On your profile page, click the "Edit Profile" button (top right). On the Edit Profile & Settings page; click on the "Privacy" tab. On the Privacy page, look for the "Member Block List" option found at the bottom of the page with a search field. In the search box, begin to type either the username or the display name of the member that you want to block and you'll see some search results appear as you type. Once you see the member you want to block appear, click on their micro-profile in the search results list. Once you have selected a member account to block, 4 check boxes will appear asking you which interactions you want to prevent with the member you chose. Check the boxes next to the interactions you want to prevent, and when you have made your selections click the Save Privacy Settings button found at the bottom of the page to complete the process.

Several other members have tried this blocking approach, as have I. It hasn't worked for any of us.

When spam comes up, I like to do my part to post something new, or add a comment, and push it further down the list into irrelevancy.
It would be much better to see it gone for good.

Do we dip our toes in at: www.tapatalk.com/groups/sexlessmarriage/Until the dust settles or moderators answer our plea or elevate someone to mod so they can sweep up the scum?? Where did you see that post about becoming a moderator. The spam has gone from bad to worse.

This is the ProBoards information that I also saw. If anyone is interested and willing to take on the possibly difficult task of running down the spammers. It may be a somewhat timeconsuming task if the spammers are offshore or using multiple relays in their illegal endevers. And i note this morning that every category has been spammed. Just as I feared no matter if a catgory here gets a new post from a legit member it is shortly rehacked by a spammer.

If we cannot anoint a moderator that can police ILIASM, what do we think of walism.org? We All Live In Sexless Marriages.org
If we set up a sibling board here at Proboards, the format could be kept very similar and we can appoint our own spam assassins. Crosslinking to posts at ILIASM should be easy enough and guide newcomers to useful older content but allow them to post without getting scrolled offscreen by scammer spammers.
Just spitballing.

We are (ahem) alive and kicking. A couple regulars have reached out to me offline about the spam, and I've done a bunch of cleanup - everything that's been reported and a bit more. If you still see some lingering out there, please report it. But yes, we need some more moderators - I started a thread in Off Topic. I also have the Bat Phone for Admin when times are desperate - he's the only one who can appoint more moderators, so let's work on a list of candidates, and I'll raise it with him.
