But okay yes a lullaby.... Whatever, or whiskey. Why not both? Oooo that's harsh. Couldn't even take the song after that little intro story! I must be hormonal today coz that made me cry.

It's 6.45 pm in my jurisdiction, which must be near enough to 12 hours ahead of you Brother wewbwb. - I occasionally get insomnia these days, but back in the midst of my ILIASM shithole it was my constant companion. - Interestingly enough, back in October 09 when I left my ILIASM deal, my insomnia improved real quick (so did the eczema I had at the time too) and has only occasionally bothered me since. Usually when my stress levels get escalated. - The events (ILIASM deal / insomnia / eczema) clearing up when I got out could of course, have been co-incidental - but I think not. - I dunno if this is of any use to you, but back when I had insomnia bad, I eventually just went with it, and 'tried' to not fret about it. If I couldn't sleep, I'd get up, paint, read, walk, write, anything. Sooner or later, you just collapse, and sleep. I also came to the conclusion that it is quite possible to get by on very little sleep for about 6 days - presupposing that by then one is so fucked that you collapse and get at least 8 hours before the cycle starts again. It definitely takes the edge off one though, reflexes slow down etc. When I tried medication, I found the side effects worse than the insomnia. - I hope you - and any other ILIASM insomniacs - find a way to manage the issue. It is very debilitating. About a month after I moved out I went to the eye dr. for my yearly visit. The previous year I was on the verge of needing bifocals. However even I noticed I was not holding a paper far away to read anymore. So I went and my vision improved considerably in both eyes, the doctor was surprised. I attribute it to either less stress being out of the house not living with the ex or the previous year of outsourcing was more sex than I had in the past decade. I do believe a healthy sex life makes our overall health better.

Cat decided to do wind sprints up and down the hall and knock over as many things as possible. It's his subtle way of saying he wants to go outside. Trying to go back to sleep now...

Cat. Must. Die. cagedtigerI have 0 solutions for insomnia @helentishappy, so I'll commiserate with y'all. My "preferred" why the flock am I awake at this unflocking, ungodly hour, time is around 0330. My hot flashes/night sweats have collaborated to choose that time as their meeting time. In fact, this is their theme song (from back in my post-grad swing dance days).

Ok, I got insomnia problems, kind of, after my first marriage broke up and I found myself alone in a huge house.
Lying in bed, tossing, turning, sweating, tossing and turning some more. Existential angst set in: semi-awake nightmares of death and eternal darkness ... I got lucky because around that time our tv started to go 24hours and they broadcast a plethora of classic films - for a few years. Then the heavy advertising set in and I chucked the tv out of my bedroom. But for a while I was entertained until 2am-ish.
What now? Reading. Reading until I was so tired that I'd want to put the book aside and I was asleep by the time my head hit the pillow.
One thing I can only agree on with Bazz: don't fret. Not fretting about my sleepless nights made one hell of a difference.
Occasionally I still wake up in the wee hours - usually when I've gone to bed too early, i.e. between 10pm and midnight. So, what the hell, I get up, I fire up a slightly monotonous computer game and play for an hour or two until my head takes on the characteristics of a lead baloon, and back to bed I go.
I just do NOT let it bother me any more. It is what it is, and that's taken all the stress out of it. For me: just don't go to bed too early. I live on 5-6 hours a night, and if I need more, I have a 15 minute power nap in the afternoon. Works for me.
Gods, I will, I wish you all a happy ending to this sleep deprivation: it's really not conducive to a happy and relaxed life.
