I wanted to let the ILIASM Forum family know that we've appointed two new moderators:
Please welcome ModLily
They are joining ModHatter
, and ModCasper
as the team who will endeavor to make this place approachable and relevant for the whole ILIASM family.
The moderation team's main roles are:
• assist with technical questions about how to use the site.
• nudge all members to be supportive and follow the community Guidelines
• clamp down on and immediately purge any sort of spam/unsolicited advertising.
• when necessary, act quickly for the protection and physical safety of all members.
I also consult the moderators as a team in cases where "more heads are better than one" and we need a diverse set of views for a forum-related discussion. Our two new mods add to the breadth of life experience on the team.
You are welcome to reach out to the mods (and/or me) anytime by PMing anyone or all of them with a specific question, comment, or suggestions.
If ever you feel someone is crossing your personal boundaries, please consider this advice
posted last June. There are instructions there on when to consider using the "Report Post" feature, and the steps you can take before that.
As mentioned in that post, "Act responsibly, be tolerant, and stand up for yourself. We’ve got your back when you need us."

Just a general reminder for our long-timers... and a recap for our newcomers...
This forum is moderated by myself and five moderators -- all of us being volunteers. (Collectively call "the staff".) They are:Admin
, and ModPanther
(FWIW: three of the five moderators are women.)
To flag a specific post as inappropriate (which includes anything outside of our Guidelines
, or for that matter anything that has sunk to the level of "uncivil"), the best way to get attention is to use the menu in the "gear icon" in the upper right of a post, and select "Report Post". Note this does NOT automatically get anyone in trouble... it queues it for review by the first moderator to notice.
(As an added benefit, it saves the questionable post for posterity, so a future edit or even outright deletion will not destroy the item that original triggered the "report".)
If you have a general question about the board that may be of interest to others on the forum, you can post a question or suggestion here on the Welcome board.
For discussions about the forum and forum policy, we recommend that you PM one or more of the staff. In particular, if you feel any user, post, thread, or board is "creating a hostile environment" here, I assure you me and the mods -- whose opinion I often actively seek out -- will have a discussion, and address in a way that is best for the community.
If ever you have a serious issue about a specific moderation decision, please DO NOT post it directly on the thread in question. Please DO NOT start another thread attempting to discuss the moderation action. PLEASE PM staff members NOT involved in the questionable moderation decision. For example, if you feel that one moderator is being too harsh on something, PM the other staff members... they will discuss with each other, then with all as needed. That is the best way to "appeal" a moderation action.
