We've entered serious negotiations about selling the 750 acre farm. After some 4 years on the market. We will be moving close to town. Finally, more people. Maybe new friends, maybe ... with benefits, who knows. Away from this social desert. But first we have to build a house on the 12 acres of land I already own. I will have to get very, very busy! You may not see very much of me, very often, in this place. I can't issue invitations for the house warming party just yet!

750 acres - that's a nice sized piece of dirt. More than a square mile!
A friend has a section (160 acres) in the mountains of Montana that I lust over. I have a pipedream to own 640 acres of that terrain with hills, thick woods, and a river. A small bit for farming, but certainly not 750 acres - that's a tough lifestyle!
Have you been actively farming it (and changing life in a big way here), or leasing it to someone who is?

A happy social life could bring all kind of opportunities for both of you. It will certainly shift things around a lot which can't be a bad thing,

Congratulations! I hope you have a speedy closing and building of the new house. New energy, new people, new opportunities!

Getting closer to town and people could be just what you need.

Providing burgers for you for the last 30 years ;-) It was quite a departure from my vocation (educational psychology) ... but a lot less prone to burning out on. I was getting a good headstart on the burning out when I was 27. Had a wonderful lifestyle here, despite getting covered in bullshit (literally) from time to time. And being my own boss, setting my own hours, has always appealed to me big-time. But now I'm done, and trying to figure out what my next career will be!

No more long drives to the grocery store! Sounds like a new wine skin to pour the new wine into! Perhaps a " change" in the marriage? One can hope.......
