I don't usually do box office movies. I did spend a buck or two more on my snacks than the matinee ticket price and took myself out on a date yesterday afternoon. This much free time between semesters is not THAT great for an over-thinker like me. I was hoping to hear back from the part-time job application and needed to not be thinking about it (the VM was there when I got out of the movie, coincidentally - and I got the job, woohoo!). Will Smith plays the lead and this movie is sweet and very good. It's about daddy love. It's also about Love, Time and Death. We all want love, we think we need more time, and we're afraid of death. But we are "here to connect" he says, and is said more than once. Anyway - if you get a wild hair - I recommend it. It becomes a tear-jerker, so grab extra napkins with your popcorn.
Just like every time I go to a movie, I want to see all the ones featured in trailers. I hope to visit Fences and Hidden Figures before school starts up again too.

I almost went to see it yesterday but I had a crazy busy day and hadn't eaten so I figured I better go home and finally ate something at 4 pm. Anyway that's on my to see list. My son is struggling a little with his relationship with his father. Typical teenage boy/ father both are stubborn. Do you think it would be a good movie for them to see together? Anyway I'm going to make a point to see it this weekend. Yep life is all about connection but some people are so self absorbed they don't see the big picture in life. Hugs

I am tempted to see this movie. It has not done well with critics and Rotton Tomatos, but those I know who have seen it like it. As for your son and ex, bballgirl, may I suggest they watch "The Empire Strikes Back?" It's Star Wars with daddy issues! Seriously, I think that it would help if they would go out together and just have fun. I'd suggest a game, but knowing your ex is both your son's coach and father, I would steer clear of sporting events. Maybe the theme parks or something in nature. I take my son out often just so we both can let off a little steam. Air hockey games work for us, as we're about equal in skill in that sport. Did you see where the World Boxing Council is considering banning fathers from their son's corners in boxing matches? Fathers have a harder time throwing in the towel than other trainers when the boxer is getting badly beaten. The WBC wants to save lives, so it wants someone more objective in the boxer's corner.

My ex only enjoys baseball and war movies. It's doomed! Smh

One dad has lost his daughter (died young) and one character is divorced with a pissed off daughter. And it is - just wonderful! There are actors hired to play Time, Death, and Love. The writing is great, I thought. It was a nice visual spin to watch it after my Short Story class this semester. It is well done, I think - without being too sappy - or I mean, it did make me cry and if I had on my "Charles brain" (cynical movie watcher trying to outguess instead of enjoy) - then, no, it would be sappy - - but I suspended my disbelief at the popcorn stand and went for the ride. And I really really liked a lot of the messages in it.
