I started a job working a swing shift back in August. I go between second and third shift. I gotta say; not a fan. I'm just hoping maybe there's someone else among the members that has any pointers to make it easier. I'm on third today but getting ready to transition back to second and it's time to flip my schedule all to hell again.

In my student days I worked in the international directory assistance of the post office. Different shifts every day. Like, one day you'd work from 3pm to midnight, the next day they'd expect you to show up at 8 am .... after 2-3 months of that my stomach was so messed up, I could no longer keep breakfast down for years after.
Yeah, it's hell. It's inhumane. Doing different shifts in 2 month stints, so long as it agrees with your biorythm is ok, but ... weekly changes are just nuts, daily are hell. I expect if you're an early bird, then going to 3rd is not going to be your cup of tea, and you might be better off doing 1st and 2nd. I, conversely, find that the change from 2nd to 3rd does not bother me much, but don't put me in 1st, please. (I solved that particular problem by volunteering to make the time tables ).

I generally have between 4 and 6 days on a given shift. It's on a three week rotation as well in terms of where the switch falls. The only good thing is how the switch between 3rd to second is handled. I'm working third shift now and it's considered a Tuesday shift since I leave Tu a day morning. I will leave at 6am today but not come back till 2pm Wednesday.

Thats a brutal rotation. I worked 3 shift with I worked at the hospital. Night shift was the reason I moved on. Good luck to to Kiltedpadre.
