Well about 3 to 4 years ago the oil pump in my Buell Blast jammed and took out the oil pump drive gear. I had spare parts on hand that I was going to use on another engine project on a spare case but for some reason I couldn't bring my self to fix the bike. Today it was 70°f and sunny, I was teleworking and decided to play hooky and fix my bike. After 2 hrs of cleaning the shed enough and 3 hrs of wrenching she is running again. I still have a few things to button up, but amazing she fired up. It will probably be next weekend before I can get everything done to ride her but at least there is something around here that likes to be ridden and ridden hard.

Excellent positive change. Exerting influence in an area you have power to change. Progress!

Excellent positive change. Exerting influence in an area you have power to change. Progress! Agreed, and I am thinking I am slowly coming out of my depression. Today has been one of my happiest days in a long time.

I had a stretch where I could not ride and when I finally got back on the bike it was sweet. Nothing like you and the machine alone on the road.

Until I read your post I wasn't aware that Harley made this bike for a limited time. Always good to welcome a fellow rider back on to the road.

This one below has a mysterious ailment that I have dubbed - "Neutral Light-itus". A malady that means the neutral light will appear at random times, whether the transmission is in neutral or not. And, said light will randomly NOT light up, even though the transmission IS in neutral. Naturally, this has only emerged since the warranty period ran out.

Mine suffers from that to but one of the side benefit of using the older style Sportster transmission is the clunky gears and clutch that makes it easy to tell if you are in neutral.

Ignore the messy garage! This is my BMW RS. The bike next to it (hidden) is my son's CBR 250 which was recently replaced by a Kawasaki Z800. We're kind of a 2 wheel family. We also have 10 bicycles, 5 road and 5 mtb.

The Blast is the bike HD used for the riders edge training bike. And was never really made by HD but Buell in a small separate wearhouse. The small group was able to do stuff that really pissed off HD. The Blast had the lowest warranty repair rate of any bike HD has ever made (as of 2010 info). Considering how hard of a life beginner bikes lives, it is remarkable.

Something about it just ticks all the right BMW boxes for me.

I was thinking of getting a triumph as my second bike. When I was a kid I always wanted one of the old V-twins.
