I can't say I ever have. I just found out that Chris Cornell passed away. He's always been one of my favorites. I'm super sad that he's gone. Yet, I didn't shed tears over it. It's not that I'm uncaring or cold or anything. I'm actually quite the opposite. I'm not exactly easily brought to tears but on the other hand I can let the waterworks go from time to time. Anyway, its just interesting to me. The whole concept of crying over a celebrity that is. I've never done it. I see others do it. I guess I can understand why. Especially if you are a big fan and also a very emotional person. I just never have experienced it myself. How 'bout you?

John Bonham, John Lennon, Princess Diana, John Ritter, Beatrice Arthur, and Prince all made me a little weepy. Shed a tear, yes. Cry my eyes out, no. I'll probably sob for days when Betty White, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and Jimmy Page pass.
Notice I left Keith Richards out of it, since that geriatric rubber band will outlive us all!

I LOVE Chris Cornell, too. I loved him in Soundgarden and Audioslave but his solo ventures touched me the most. No, I haven't shed an actual tear for him, but feel sad he's gone too soon. Too young. If it was suicide, what a waste - and tragic ending. His voice is like none others, I just love it. And those eyes! If I saw a tribute for him, I might get misty eyed -- if I saw his kids at his funeral, yes - a tear or two for their sadness (so sad for them). When it's someone you actually know there's a lump in your throat - in this case it's just reflection (another artist from my generation gone too soon).
Ugh... that VOICE though...... Sorry, can't resist sharing a couple of his videos. All his songs take on a new depth.

No I never have and doubt I ever will. Unless the celebrity is someone I know personally. I admire their talent but they are not real to me, I view them as a marketing brand, fictionalized characters. There are those here for whom I would shed tears and grieve their passing.

No I never have for a celebrity but news reports about terror attacks or natural disasters make me cry. Movies get to me too and that's not even real.
I think I just view death as eminent and accept that nobody knows when their number is up.
That thought process definitely played a role in me getting out of my SM.
I didn't want to go through life celibate for whatever years I have remaining.

I really love when he's behind an acoustic guitar. Just him and a guitar. Perfection. I always wanted to see him do an acoustic set live. I never got around to that. I'm bummed that I can't do that now.

Princess Diana. Her death choked me up. That was certainly an emotional one.

I admire their talent but they are not real to me, I view them as a marketing brand, fictionalized characters. There are those here for whom I would shed tears and grieve their passing. I feel the same way to a degree. Some artists that really reach me or have some sort of kindred spirit vibe really have a special place in my heart. It's almost like I feel as though I do somehow know them. ...almost. So i certainly don't disagree with what you're saying. Some celebrities do feel more than just a brand or a face to a marketing strategy for me. Chris Cornell was one of those for me. I felt as though his work was genuine and it touched me and felt very ....familiar. I just kind of felt like parts of him were so similar to parts of me. I guess I just related to him in a way that's hard to put in words. That's rare for me. So usually I feel the way you described. Sometimes though... just sometimes, it feels like more. Still though, no tears shed... yet. But maybe someday the death of an artist will move me to that level. As of today though, still batting zero.

Its a kids movie and i cry like a baby every time.

George Michael's passing was the straw that broke the camel's back. I've hardened and choose denial. It simply can't be true.
I had promised myself that the next time Cornell was in town that nothing would stop me from seeing his performance. My heart is sad for him. His family.

I texted my wife about his death cause she really likes him. She says the Linkin Park singer said that Chris Cornell has a voice from heaven....or something like that. So she's been crying all day. Soundgarden was in town recently and she didn't go so feels bad. I'm not too fond of Soundgarden but I really like him in Audioslave with the Rage Against the Machine members. Their song Like a Stone is one of my ILIASM favorite awesome song ever, along with Allelujah and Can't Make You Love Me. I did not shed any tears though.

I was so upset about David Bowie that I couldn't cry. I was frozen inside.
