I sent some pictures of my peony bush to my mom via text because I thought I'd share it with her. I celebrate when it blooms every year on FB, but I know she doesn't look at Facebook and for some dumb reason thought maybe she'd like to see it. Her response?? "Oh, you kept those old bushes? Peonies have never been my favorite." Um... She got crickets from me. I won't respond. This is the first I've heard about her disdain for peonies. Another hang up for some reason, I'm sure. She also hates rhubarb .... I have those as well and make killer rhubarb jam, crisp and a fun slushie mixed with vodka But, she "hates" rhubarb. And, now, peonies. I'm glad I don't have so many hang -ups in life. I love these old fashioned plants. I'm also including a couple other pics. One is my baby hydrangea... mom thinks hydrangeas are ok. It boggles the mind! Lol

A current pic of my blooming Clematis plant. (Also referred to around here as Clitoris and Chlamydia just to see who’s paying attention.)

All of those flower pictures are beautiful! And I LOVE peonies!!!!! I don't think they grow in the South where I live. I love peonies too. Alas I also live in the south where they do not grow. I'm in Georgia. I see the rare Bush here and there but unless you get the really early flowering varieties and I have no idea what those would be it's just too hot for them. However in the Midwest where I'm from they are gorgeous. Fortunately we have hydrangeas down here as a decent substitute for peonies but they are not fragrant. However they do last a lot longer than peonies, I think so I'll take it. I absolutely love hydrangeas and I will try to post some pictures of mine.

I'll have to look those up, but guessing I'm too north for such beauty. Trying to fill my massive garden spaces in with perennials. It's been a learning experience!

I love peonies, too! They're gorgeous. They do well where I live BUT because garden space is at such a premium in London I don't have them because they are space hogs. I over plant so peonies I've tried have never done well. And holy crap choosinghappy that's an amazing clitoris

@windsister I don't know what USDA hardiness zone you're in - but there are some zone 3 and even zone 2 clematis: www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/gardening-by-zone/zone-3/growing-clematis-in-zone-3.htmI grew up in Zone 5. South of England is really amazing because even though it doesn't usually get super hot in the summer neither does it get as cold as it does even in the 'mid South' where I grew up. The only thing that I REALLY miss growing is home grown tomatoes - they're just never quite right.
