Almost bought a book the other day, a copy of the original Scouting for Boys. It is the one with advice on masturbation. Sigh, the advice was don't.

The business I am in (delivering rental trucks) is labeled an "essential business". So, if there is a state wide shutdown I will still be working. What about others on this forum? The Interstates and highways are much less crowded lately, I see plenty of other truckers rollin' every day! I'm glad the gas stations remain open and full of fuel! I work in higher education, essential function so far. I'm also still self-building a house and luckily construction materials are still considered essential here in AZ. |

Yes, " I was just following orders" that was a common response during the WW II Nuremberg trials.
In reality I am following my medical provider's orders because my blood count numbers indicate I am very high risk.
So far 11 days in self isolation except for working on my daughters car while she was at work.
A local grocery store had "hi risk personal" hours (7AM to 10 AM) and a friend went shopping. She said the store was crowded. So much for social distancing.
Back to some Youtube documentries. How the USA got in to WW II and how it prepared for war.

One of my customers is "Home Depot" when I am there delivering I see many customers buying construction materials. Also trucks are still rollin' daily with building supplies. The staff ,(Home Depot) is now limiting how many people are allowed in the store at one time, so they ask you to "go wait in line, and they will tell you when you can enter", the crazy part was watching the people crowded up against one another in line! (Like sardines in a can!) |

Coronavirus hit close yesterday when my sons’ cousin (via my ex) died of the virus yesterday in Michigan. She was a beautiful woman on her 40s. Let the people you love and care about know now. There may not be much time to do so. Sorry to hear.... I'm always more interested in the stories behind "the stats." We are all looking at our own immortality at this time. My job is an "essential" non-profit and my man is in "essential" manufacturing so he and I are blessed -we get to keep earning money and get to stay productive and busy. I also get to fully work from home. I'm worried about my mother-in-law and my mom but both are staying hunkered down. I like being home and don't require a lot of hoopla in life anyway. We continue to remodel our new home. I feel like a fugitive every time we go to the mega home store, but we are careful and will go early in the morning this weekend for sheetrock and such. Our store is super quiet. My hubby and I like each other and stick to ourselves anyway, so we aren't feeling like things are too different. I hear that big brother was pinging our cell phones to determine how well we all followed orders to stay home. My state got an A. Not sure how I feel about that one.... but technology is traceable and they have been doing it from day one. I'm not surprised Minnesotans listen and stay home. I'm actually pretty proud of this state as we are seeing a lot of good things happen everywhere. Well, I need to start working now. Bonus today I see the sun....oh my lord I need sun, so walking breaks will be on my agenda. Nature isn't cancelled and it's healthy. Stay well... stay healthy. |

I'm teleworking from home, and haven't gone much outside the house in the last 3 weeks and staying to get stir crazy. The family is driving me nuts. I've realized how much I like my normal commute by myself in my car. It gives me solitude to reset. I'm also missing interacting with other people.

I am so glad I don't live with my ex anymore. Weekends were a struggle and holidays terrible, being stuck with him al day.
Now I am at home with my friend. Both working from home. Big house, big garden, we are lucky. We have both been moderately ill, we have not been tested so we can't say for sure it was Corona, but it seems it was.
I am thinking of all the people stuck in small houses or flats without a garden. That is difficult enough for people in good relationships, but for dysfunctional situations it is unbearable.
I worry about my daughter. I don't know how she is doing. But living with her germ-phobic dad can't be good in this situation.

tamara68....I hope your convalescence continues to go well. I am debating about a garden. I had decided not to do one this year because I am out of freezer space from produce I grew last year, and it is a lot of work. I used to give a lot of food away but now that seems hard to do. Maybe I will just do a small area with way fewer plants.
EDIT: After reading lessinghams post it occurred to me that gardens across the pond are different from the US. Europeans apparently use their gardens for relaxing and contemplation, while in the US they are generally for food. Sorry, my bad....

I have tokd my neighbour who lives in a gardenless apartment she can use our garden for relief whenever we are not i it. It is neither large or beautiful but better than 4 walls

Hopefully you and your man, did have the virus and are recovering well from it? You should now be immune to it (No guarantee. Other viruses in the past have been known to have a 2nd stronger wave to it) Hopefully both of your work loads will remain steady? Working from home together sounds like the ultimate relationship challenge LOL! A good test to know that you have a good thing going!! Still thinking about your daughter? I don't blame you, it's natural, and an almost endless cycle that seems hard to get over  Having the HOPE that your daughter will eventually be with you, and can heal, is a long painful process. It sounds like you are continuing on with your own self healing. Hopefully the stores in your area have not sold out of saran wrap LOL!! ( let the good times roll! That's a wrap) |

Don't know about that -- I really don't think I'd want the neighbours to relieve themselves in my garden. Goat pellets on the driveway are bad enough.

I sort of remember some of the news from the Berlin Air Lift times (1949) and now Germany has re instated the policy, They even got out some old Douglas C-47 Skymaster. OK it was a good story but not true for the Covid TP shortage. The real Berlin Air Lift.
