I am not a gambler. Never put even $.25 cents in a poker machine and never bought a lottery ticket. Those two forms of gambling are all around me. Some places at one time HAD low priced meals but that ended so I don't go near them anymore.
Some things that are different in different countries.
Thailand dump trucks (do these guys have any money to date or marry?)
Brazil truck (front bumper almost touching the ground while the back end is jacked way up in the air.
Australia Trucks in the out-back
Russian trucks crossing rivers

Jim, someone from probably Vietnam posted a couple of times about a gambling site (spam) and the post was written in their native language and not readable to me or I suppose most of our ILIASM members. To derail the spam I posted about the uncommon trucks from different countries I saw on the Internet, to steer the spammer's post in a different direction.
A moderator removed the spammer's posts and allowed my posts to remain and changed the title of the thread.

I personally do not understand why some people think they can out guess what is going to happen when they play the odds and gamble. At one time I repaires a few printers that were connected to some gambling devices. The numbers on the papers the printers printed showed me how much people lose for the days data, the computer program sent to the printers.
In Vegas, the gambling halls have overhead that the customers have to pay for eventually, so why do people think they can come out ahead when they place their bets? Long story short, the house wins over the long run and I am not smart enough to figure out how to beat the system that has been in place and working in the house's favor for more than 50 or 100 years. I also talked with the technicians that repair the gambling machines. Knowing how some machines operate internally, well< I found out some machine types are just total bottomless pits that take customer's money. One machine was programmed to pay out only after 400 plays, no matter what a person/user did. Then there are the math courses I had in college, where the class used popular gambling games and we mathematically predicted the outcomes of each of a few games based on historical data.

Yep, everyone hopes to be the exception - the person who wins big instead of losing reliably. I wish the lottery gave a prize for never hitting any of the numbers - it seems statistically unlikely, but I’m very good at it!

I think our college level math course (How to set up a way to determine if the plan and how changes to the plan work to reach goals) figured out the state lottery only paid out 40% of the advertised winnings. An example was winning 1 million dollars (small print said 1 million dollars paid out over 20 years.) so if you took the cash now, you got say $600K. OK, the $600K plus your income at the time put you in a much higher tax bracket for federal and state/local income tax. Now you get to keep maybe $400K. So, out of all of the prize money paid out, maybe the state paid out (small and large prize money) $500K. The rest went to taxes and overhead. Today I do not know how much money is spent on the state lottery, their overhead and what they actually payout to winners. To me gambling is similar to Thermal Dynamics. According to the first law of thermodynamics, the energy output cannot exceed the energy input. Add in the loses
during a conversion, the end results are all ways less.

To me life is a big enough gamble. Who needs gambling per se to drain their wallet to boot.
