I've got a start date for my job: June 15, one week from today.
This has been a weird period in my life - I had accepted a job offer, so was no longer job-hunting. But I couldn't just start the new job right away, like I always had in the past.
This period of time spent waiting for the start date has been longer than the period of time it took me to be laid off from my last job, conduct a job hunt, go on interviews, and get an offer.
It also taught me some things about myself.
Mainly it taught me how much I need other people. When I live alone and am not working, I have no self-discipline at all, no stucture to my time. I need the demands of other people in order to keep on any kind of a schedule or to accomplish anything.
If I can afford to retire, maybe I'd better not! I can just see it now - 70 year old SmartKat, staying up half the night, wearing jammies half the day...eating meals at irregular times like 3:00 PM, etc.
Back to normal living next week.
