Damned spammers, more mods, and other commentary

Hi, all.  Your never-present mod here.

The spammers.  Yeah, they suck.  They seem to be getting smarter too.  I cleaned up a few that were clearly AI - that's not going to be fun going forward, trying to sort out the AI bots as they get more subtle and engage in the conversation threads.  And WTH is with fake diplomas?  You'd think they'd at least be pitching sex toys here.

I appreciate you taking the time to report them - it really does help a lot to draw attention.  One thing that would help further - if a spammer starts a new thread, reply with "Reported" or something similar so we don't get a lot of duplicate reports.  (The admin features here are fairly basic.)

Now, the obvious: we seem to be in desperate need of Mod attention.  As happens, my situation is evolving so I'm not on here often, and the other mods have moved on with life.  I see Admin stopped by a few weeks back, but we're the last of the Mohicans.  I daresay we need to nominate a couple more mods and replenish the ranks.

If you'd like to nominate someone (whether yourself, or maybe someone you don't like), please send a PM to myself and Admin, and I'll champion some improvements here.  We'll be looking for someone who is both a fairly frequent participant here, and also pretty level-headed.  (And don't get too excited... moderator powers are pretty much limited to thread management.  Admin is the one who wields Thor's hammer.)
