Fun surprise for me. Have been feeling more depressed lately, with loss of energy and decided to get my annual bloodwork done, and T levels checked for once (will be 60 in July) - and I have less than half the MINIMUM level for health according to the test. I also am going for an ultrasound next Monday to ensure there is nothing else at work to affect my T levels.
Has anyone else found that after years (almost 8 for me) without sex, that their T levels have dropped off like this? I know that stress can absolutely decimate your T level - but I have recently lost 90+ lbs, been working out - except the past couple of months as I have increasingly been tired. fairly good shape and sleep well actually. The wife and I start Marriage / sex therapy tomorrow - so the stress of that may be playing into this - but holy crap!
My Thyroid on the other hand is right down the middle OK, Vitamin D level was a little low - but easily addressed.
Pardon the phrase - but what a kick in the nuts.
Anyone else experienced this?

lonelyhubby,...At around 63-64 when my X started refusing I noticed I wasn't initiating very often. And I was experiencing a general feeling of listlessness. Since I had a dr's. appointment anyway I ask him to check my T levels. Turns out I had less than 1/2 of where I should have been. So I went on Testosterone Replacment therapy. It took about 3-4 weeks but my libido came roaring back. Unfortunately my W was not interested much anymore. It's an easy condition to remedy. Just be aware that you may well end up even more frustrated by your refusing spouse when your libido starts manifesting itsself.

Thanks. I have already discussed with the Wife - the expectation is we start slow and at least try once every 2 weeks. not like we are slamming it off the bed anyway at 59 and 55. But - it does explain some of my anxiety and depression aside from the lack of intimacy (discussed this with the Wife also). Given I am in an already high risk category for a previous testicle issue - I wonder how long my T has been low.
Got a good handle on the stress and will see if I do shots or pellets for TRT - will have to wait until after next week. Meanwhile - I am starting daily DHEA supplements, along with the normal Zinc, D, C, etc..

We talked injections or permanent implants with me preferring the injections as a starting option. The Tri Mix works like a rented mule when it comes to an erection. Sometimes it works too well and it is difficult for me to lose the erection. My biggest problem at present is lack of opportunity. I feel like I am back in my SM.

Just consulted with my physician - going the injection route. Issue is, I haven't had any erection problems - other than losing it without completion due to rigid starfish the last time in 2016.

I suggest you read the postings by me and severasl other members under the heading of TriMix, its a steep learning curve. I hope your Dr. talked with you about what to do if you get an erection that refuses to go away. That issue also was part of the conversation on Tri Mix.

Life is funny in some ways. My sex drive is high yet I was diagnosed with low testosterone in my 20s. The only symptoms I exhibit when it's low is depression and fatigue yet the doctor at the time checked everything related and nothing else was out of the ordinary. I've been on treatment off and on for over 15 years and I attribute that to despising the lack of sex in my marriage. Why should I take something that ramps up my drive even more if I have no outlet for it?? I've been on treatment consistently for a few years now and switched to pellets last year. I do so much better with the pellets since it's more consistent. I've also noticed my acne isn't nearly as much with the pellets. The weekly shots began to hurt and I grew not to want to give myself those. I do have to take an estradiol blocker though so that the estrogen conversion isn't too high. My mood is definitely better overall though with the testosterone treatment and I recommend any guy who has low testosterone to check into it.

PSA is always in check and hasn't affected it. It's on the lower end under 0.5 where the upper limit on their test is 4.0 My total testosterone is right around 1100 on the pellets and I feel great with the level there. My doctor is a wellness doctor who specializes in hormone therapy for both men and women. Both doctors at this clinic are good with my levels being there. In my 20s up until I started TRT again 2 years ago my total would be between 250-275.

He might be able to weigh in. I've not done much research, nor reported on that which i have heard, but a good primer was provided over on Dad Starting Over podcast: share.transistor.fm/s/2f5ff497Maybe there's better out there, but I learned things.

Another advantage of pellets over shots is with the pellets your levels will stay pretty consistent for months and then gradually start to fall when it's time for another round of pellets. They are supposed to last 6-8 months on average, and at least with me my levels were still good after 8 months with the last one I had.

The doc will inject anesthesia to numb it and then make a small incision to inject the pellets with a larger needle, then the injection site is closed up. I donāt feel anything during the procedure. You have to keep the gauze on it for a week but itās taped up to where taking a shower wonāt bother it. To me itās a week of very minor inconvenience to not have to have weekly injections that hurt like hell. Definitely look into it though.

My doctor told me that pellets are not an option for men - I asked for clarification.

My doctor told me that pellets are not an option for men - I asked for clarification. That is not true at all. Is your doctor one who specializes in hormones, specifically for males?
