Yesterday i had my Rx refilled. It went up 280% since my last refill back in 12/2023!
I asked the young lady at the check out about it? was it correct? a mistake? why that large an increase? All she knew was that i used my GoodRx card and she's seen it on everything at the beginning of the new year-2024. She suggested i 'go on line and compare prices?' I had already done that, ( a few years ago) and the grocery/pharmacist that i used was already 200%, 300% 400% cheaper than other pharmacies. And remained that way.
Anyone else experience this lately? (no politics needed)
I pay cash and don't use any insurance.

Rather not say... if that's okay? It was $42.00 for a 3 month supply. Today i paid $120.00. (I use a generic brand too) 5 years ago my now ex w's company had their own pharmacy and they where charging $670.00 !! with insurance!! Other pharmacies wanted $200.00 and $300.00!

So... I just went on line and signed in to my old account with goodRx. Turns out my Rx at my current pharmacy is $142.00 not the $120.00 I was charged? And another local store will charge me less...$57.00!
It paid to spend a few minutes doing some research!
Side note: over the weekend I was in the market for vertical blinds ( 15 of them) the lowest prices online where between $106.00 to $130.00. I went to three different stores to get them sooner than waiting to have them shipped. I found a generic brand ( same quality) at every store for only $43.00!! ( none of it was advertised on line at all 3 stores!)
I saved $945! before taxes.
Normally...I find a lower price and better selection on line, than i do at the store, but not this time!

Does the prescription manufacturer have a coupon on their website? I've found that when it's a name brand and not a generic the insurance makes it difficult to have it covered, but the manufacturer has a co-pay coupon on their website.

My doctor has prescribed a new medication for me. This morning I started checking on pricing. My online pharmacy, through my advantage plan is usually far more reasonable on pricing. But initially it may not be for this medication. The online pharmave showed to be 5 times the cost as compared to 3 local pharmacies. It pays to comparison shop everything.

I get meds through an online pharmacy. They are outside the US and I have had at least one shipment caught and destroyed by customs, but, where brand name US purchased pills would cost me $80/each, I get high quality generics for under $3.
I say, outside the US. They're branded as Canadian, but the bills clear in the UK, and products typically ship from India or Malaysia or similar.

Here in the U.K. it’s £11 per month for limitless branded drugs with no exceptions.
Oh, yes…. And a f-tonne of cash taken out of my salary before I get it. There’s that as well. 🙁

There’s that as well. 🙁 A Canadian co-worker was astonished at the salary he drew when he came to work in America. Then he was slapped silly when he saw the health insurance premium. It was a wash. The pay was the same. Just public health care in Canada, private here. No free lunch.

UPDATE TO MARCH 8 POST: Turns out the plan B local pharmacy misquoted their pricing. Little difference from my online costs. Both far more expensive than I expected. So I will not be getting that med. And I got an unexpected email from Publix pharmacy. Says I have a precsription to be picked up there, only I didn't order anything. I was getting my Cialis there. A 90 day prescription was around $17. This new email didn't name the drug but the cost was over $400. So if it is for CIALIS I will not be getting that either. Also did some searching for Canadian pharmacies for the new prescription. Turns out the drug is no cheaper from Canada then in the US. Ozempic---$600 for 90m day supply
