Do we have any mods at all? Is there an occasional visiting mod that could give someone more regular here access to delete threads and ban users?

Or can we add some sort of basic vetting process for new members? Maybe a "Ten questions about yourself" post required in the Welcome forum before they are approved to post elsewhere. Or a limit of one post a day until they are vetted.

The only Mod that may still sometimes frequent the site is Mod Hatter. But he hasn't been here in some time. The last time spam was almost this bad I approached him about bringing on members who were frequently on this forum. Several members (including me) were willing, but he never followed through. As it stands now it looks like we have no moderators policing the forum. I don't know if contacting ProBoards would be effective. They are happy to take money for supporting a forum but otherwise are hidden away from communication. |

I have tried contacting them but they seem unconcerned about the amount and # of spammers here. I don't know if other forums on ProBoards are having the same issues. If ILIASM generated income for ProBoards they maght take a more active role, but this forum doesn't do that as far as I know. anyone know any good hearted hackers that might be able to create access ? |

And many other regular posters. All it takes is 2 or more weeks of spam taking over the entire site ,and days of it not being fixed, to drive away the few people who remain on this site. |

I Googled ProBoards a few minutes ago and went to their home page. There was a sub paragraph including "abuse". I posted to thst heading about all the spammers and requested ProBoards create or empower new Moderators for this forum. It might not hurt if others did the same. Perhaps enough complaints would move them to take some actions. I can't believe ILIASM is the only forum being hit with all this spam.

You and I have been together on this forum from the beginning. Is there an alternative? Was/is there another forum that people went to? With work,family,hobbies, etc... I have not taken the time to look at alternatives. I do recall dead bedrooms getting bad reviews, is that where others went? Or did they just decide to stop posting on any SM sites ? I have looked a bit a Reddit but not much. A couple years ago i stumbled onto an advice site( can't remember the name ) and saw postings from Smartkat. She was at EP for a long time. After several years she was back with her refusing boyfriend and they were still sexless. Other than her I have no idea what happened to all the people both at EP and here when they go away. |

On the subject of spam. I probably have blocked 12-15 phone numbers in the past week from spammers. With the hacking of AT&T and now a major credit rating center vertually every American has had their personal and much of their financial information compromised. It's likely we can all expect to receive numerous calls, e-mails,etc. from spammers and scammers for who knows how long.
