The eye of Hurricane Milton should pass right through my town on the East coast. Forecast says a level one. Not much to worry about. Just brought in the lawn furniture and tightened the straps on the shed. Maybe a day without power.
One of the towns ( 5-10 miles north of me has had heavy flooding in the past ( Satellite Beach)

Thankfully no. Have family and friends, though. Palm Beach and St. Augustine
I'll hope it's as mild as you expect. I was surprised to hear how quickly land weakens the winds. A full two categories just across the relatively narrow strip of Florida.

Even mild storms, there's normally a couple of days of cleaning up branches and possibly replacing a few shingles. I've seen my area withstand 26" of rain from tropical storm Faye that sat off our coast for 2 days!
I've also had the opposite, a cat 3 hit our area and we went west to Tampa. When the storm hit Tampa it was at tropical storm level. The hotel we stayed at lost all power and water came in through the doors and ceiling! We returned to our home to find no damage, and the power had been on the whole time!
I'm in the final stages of re-building one of my rental properties and renting it out again. If there's damage in my own area I always serve my own neighbors. If not much damage in my own area, I would love to volunteer and head West!

When I lived in North Carolina the eye of a Hurricane passed over the house. What an amazing sight!
The skies cleared, the sun came out! The winds ended, all was calm.....for about an hour.
Then came the back end of the hurricane! Some of the darkest clouds I've ever seen! That storm actually lifted the old house( built in 1923) a few inches and it set back down in place!

All is well! No power loss, no flooding, just a few tree branches down and one small tree uprooted from the back side of the storm, the last 2hrs.
Hurricane Milton sucked up a lot of dry air as the eye reached the center of the state ( west of Orlando) and lost much of it's rain. That also helped it to move across the state faster.
Lots of tornadoes touched down! The closest was in Cocoa Beach -15 miles away.
