We did a 3 hour hike in rough terrain (well, for our state..lol) yesterday. The trails were muddy at times, icy/snowy at times and we had to do a lot of "off trail" trekking to avoid puddles, etc. It felt great, but wow, am I sore today! Glutes are on fire (so hilly) and my thighs, calves are feeling it too. Walking at angles and inclines works muscles in whole new ways! I LOVE getting outside!
My plan tonight is to actually DO Gorilla Workout level 1, workout 1. tonight. Don't laugh -- it's 4 rounds of the following: 8 squats, 4 lunges, 10 pushups. That's it. I am going to work through all the levels of Gorilla workout, starting at 1 in order to just get used to making the time to do it. Then I will add as I go. I love body weight workouts I can do anywhere, at home, on the walking trail, etc. I am saying this out loud, so tonight I DO IT!

Also, just feel like putting this thought in this thread -- this IS relevant to both a SM and a happy marriage or post sm life (single and dating or just single) because how we feel about ourselves is so related to how we treat ourselves and take care of ourselves. I know I make a better wife when I am exercising and feeding myself properly. My husband supports and loves me at any size (and has proven that) but I also know I am easier to live with when I feel GOOD about myself. So I WILL get through Gorilla Workout, Level One by Saturday March 25th (20 days of workouts).

After a hellish last week at work, I'm back on the exercise wagon this week. Plan is to continue lifting at the Y before work 3-4 times a week, running the Greenway behind my office 3-4 times a week, and cycling at least once a week. I'll add swimming back into that as well; friends and I are looking at sprint triathlons later in the year. For diet, I'm going full vegetarian for Lent, abd restricting myself to a max of 3 meals out and two drinks per week. While the intent isn't just to help with weight loss, I know it'll be a side benefit. eternaloptimism, any recipes you have would be awesome.

Go cagedtiger. This is impressive. Please though, don't ask me for recipes. You know I can't cook he he. I'm a simple vegetarian me. It's veggies, fruit, seeds, nuts, a bit of cheese, pasta, cous cous, quinoa blah blah blah. I would suggest that on the 3 meals out you have, go to a good veggie place and take a picture of their menu. Inspiration may follow X

If you are really working hard doing the veggie thing might not provide your muscles with all the protein they need. The weight you loose might be skewed toward losing muscle mass as opposed to fat loss. Just a thought.

I keep jars of almonds and cashews and other nuts and seeds at my desk, and I'm still eating eggs. I'll be tracking my macros much more closely though, for sure.

I did my monkey workout last night. I even recorded it and shared with my fitness group of friends (we are all doing the Keto diet). I will post another video in 20 days (the last workout). I am definitely not expecting big changes in 20 days from these short, little body weight exercises, but what I am hoping for is to make "making it to my exercise appointment" a habit in 20 days. So far so good!!! Now that I am accountable to my "local" (at least in my same state) accountability group, there's no backing down!

My fave when I was training for my half marathon.... a bit naughty but wicked for a hit of energy... crunchy peanut butter on a milk chocolate digestive. Mmmmm

If you could utilise that "specialist" recipe book.... you know the one... with a vegetarian delight that would be a good one! Vegan. Mmm. Not had eggs for like.... months probably. Have been on the soya milk .... but not in coffee. Nope. Cheese, had a bit. I'm not obsessing over it though. There's no point. I'll choose vegan option if it's available, but I'm ok also if not x

I did another water cardio / resistance class. The core activity is crazy, she has various activities that has your extended hands and feet swapping places or twisting. I am 6" with long legs and arms, so to be able to move fast enough to keep up with the shorties and still fully extend is hard.
Hopefully the instructor for the finning class comes back, I loved the lower body workout from that class.

You might have to add in a protein shake because it is hard to get enough protein when going vegitarian. Add beans to whatever you can.

I made my own Peanut Butter Cups. Yay for me!

Uh-oh,...Looks like the exercise and health support forum has been infiltrated by flat tooth herbivores and junk food aficionados. Could this be the start of an ILIASM version of WikiLeaks?
