... I have tried to deal with all the shibboleths that are used on denied spouses. I just learned a new word today... that makes me happy. (Yes... I am an unabashed lexophile.) I just looked it up, but instead of copy and pasting the definition, I will put it in my own words so as to try out my understanding: Shibbolethdefinition: a social custom, belief, or way of speaking that is so strongly identified with a particular culture, clan, or other social group that it is believed to be a reliable test of if you are really part of that group. origin: from Hebrew meaning a "sheaf of wheat", used in an old testament passage where they were trying to determine if this stranger was really from one tribe or another (by seeing if the stranger could pronounce this as expected). example usage: Though he was living in the Chicago area and had no distinct regional accent, his frequent use of "grinder" to refer to a submarine sandwich was a shibboleth revealing he was certainly a New Englander. Thank you, csl !

Lexophilia! Were you and I separated at birth or something? I've always been a huge word nerd.

Never use a long word when a diminutive one will suffice...

Never use a long word when a diminutive one will suffice... How unimaginative. Just for informational purposes, the "S" in CSL stands for sesquipedalian, as in Curmudgeonly Sesquipedalian Librarian.

To demonstrate the rapturous joy that awaits a true lexophiliac, I present the late Gamble Rogers, as unique a musician and storyteller as ever existed. I'm pretty sure that this is the only video on the entire internet describing the peregrinations of an unconscionable aesthete. Duchamp Found Pop Culture Object Theater

sesquipedalian -- someone who gets around on one and a half feet :-P or maybe a bicycle with half a pedal missing.

There used to be a game that I just loved - a very unusual word would be presented to the players, and there were 2 ways to win:
1 - Know the correct definition or 2 - Come up with the best bogus definition.
Ah, the highlights of the life of a word nerd!

Even though we all have Google handy, I have one word that brought quite a reaction when it was mentioned in Cards Against Humanity - smegma.
