Ironmater I do hope that lesson was learned vicariously,...
The no oiling the oxygen fittings was from 10th grade metal shop class safety film. Also always put the safety cap on an oxygen or acetylene tank before you move it. It could become a giant rocket if the tank falls over and the shut-off valve breaks off.

As far as honest unbiased media my jurisdiction has one saving grace. That is, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (the ABC) which was set up in 1929 as a Government funded national broadcaster. The ABC is disliked by the "Right" side of politics (when in Government) who accuse it of having a "Left" bias when called to account. And, is equally disliked by the "Left" side of politics (when in Government) who accuse it of having a "Right" bias when called to account. The ABC is not owned by, or beholden to the Rupert Murdochs of the media, so those press Barons hate the ABC as they doesn't control it. The Government (of the day) don't like the ABC as they don't control it either. At the moment, the head of the ABC is a woman by the name of Ita Buttrose (a highly regarded media person with years of experience working for "Right" - and "Left" media outlets. It is of interest that I can't (and I doubt that anyone in this jurisdiction can) tell you whether she is a member of the "Left" party or the "Right" or not a member of either. If you want the facts about Australian politics www.abc.net.au would be the site I'd recommend you to.

As a clinically-diagnosed bipolar, I have a very real appreciation for the center of the fence. It seems like a relatively tranquil place to find a spectacular view of the shit storm.
Politicians deal in division. That seems to be their first priority. Always. Take 45 for example. His rant du jour always got an equal and opposite reaction.
Journalism these days is just covert (organized) hate speech. Pol-itics pushed out. Straight talk and getting along does not boost anybody's ratings. It's one side vs. the other. Fox vs. CNN. NYT vs. WT.
I believe all of 'em and none of 'em at the same damn time. I have to take it all with a bucket of salt and put 2 and 2 together on my own.
Just goes to show how fucked up in the head bipolars are.
Change my mind. ;-)
You sound like Carlin: Pretty good method of staying calm.

Did Biden win the election? Was there voter fraud on both sides or one side? I personally dislike Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters and several other democrats.
The video makes some good things to think about. Maybe a person can get away with messing with city and state goverments and be exonerated but mess with the federal government and you will have to pay the price.
Richard Jewell was a suspect for the Atlanta bombing and was treated poorly by the federal government. Other whistle blowers were treated worse or lost their life savings because they reported illegal actions by federal employees or elected officials you and I would serve prison time for doing the same thing. Whistle blowers go to jail and the fat cat government people walk free or get promoted.

Apparently the US isn't the only country where the citizenry is getting pretty fed up with the shenanigan's of their politicians. In India the farmers have decided to protest government actions and thousands of angry citizens decided to occupy government buildings. So in the capital of Delphi protestors did just that, including occupying the ancient and historical Red Fort Complex. It didn't make headlines here but it never the less may be another warning to bureaucratic elitist's that in a democracy the citizenry isn't defenseless, and that the infrastructure and government doesn't belong to them, but to the people who constitute the nation, and if given sufficient justification the citizenry may well reclaim what rightfully belongs to them.
EDIT: I want to add that I am not endorsing either of these 2 resent occupations of buildings in capitol cities. But I do understand it I think.

Thanks w4m2, the MSM does a rotten au gratin job of covering world news. God to get outside our little world sometimes.

mirrororchid I would consider the BBC part of the mainstream media. So how is it that you are saying such things are not reported? They are reported. You just showed it.

mirrororchid I would consider the BBC part of the mainstream media. So how is it that you are saying such things are not reported? They are reported. You just showed it. Partial correction: American MSM. BBC is usually where I end up getting world news. When I check news headlines, all the headline non-US news gets clustered in a section labeled "World". It has a single top story, so I check it out with all the domestic news. So...one world news story nestled in with 49 American news stories. news.google.com/topics/CAAqJggKIiBDQkFTRWdvSUwyMHZNRGx1YlY4U0FtVnVHZ0pWVXlnQVAB?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3AenA riot that kills 300 police officers didn't rise to the top that day. Still...North Korea stealing data from an AMERICAN company. Dubai Fauci (AMERICAN) Atlanta (AMERICAN) Italy New Zealand Australia California (AMERICAN) Detroit (AMERICAN) AMERICAN South Africa Australia. Lots of the overseas news is about COVID too. Relatable to... Americans. News aggregators are phoning it in when getting Americans to find out about international affairs. Should I be doing something to tweak my algorithms to stop Google from isolating me so much? I do get news feeds from Foreign Policy magazine. (paywalled a lot of the time) I watch morning news with the Mrs. and foreign news is four-leaf clover level of rare. Given how the Middle East rears its ugly head repeatedly, you'd think news might check in once in a while. As much as I dislike Trump, the normalization of trade with UAE and Bahrain were good moves, but a conservative friend had to brag about it to me. It didn't come up in any news feeds and not just because of liberal bias. The MSM covers it, but it gets buried. I don't hunt it down and I could if I made it a priority. I don't. Few Americans do. Perhaps many don't know they should. Still others don't see why it's a good idea. I guess I want to be spoon fed meaningful world affairs the way they want to flood me with stories about COVID, local house fires, weather reports, sports game results, and puff pieces about how Mardi Gras has been canceled and those darn festive N'orliners are making the best of it. You can't slip in an update on tensions between Russia and Ukraine or border skirmishes with China and India? Handy demonstrates you can do it if you make the effort. Just seems world news is something the MSM should be seeking to bring before Americans aggressively. Ratings suffer if they do? So I've heard. Maybe the teevee news is better? I don't watch TV. Too slow. " Deutsche Welle (DW) is Germany’s international broadcaster and one of the most successful and relevant international media outlets" BBC is British. news.com.au - Australian. The Economist. - Based in London, England, the newspaper is owned by The Economist Group, with core editorial offices in the United States, as well as across major cities in continental Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Good on ya getting your finger on the world's pulse, Handy.

this whole scene is priceless and we have much to learn and much to do. It's a movie but it's real for me. This is why it is okay to want to make America stand up take notice and not just cave in on the couch. This is why I sign up to work elections. We have some work to do, not fluff our eagle feathers and pretend because we each want our party to be in power. Lying at any cost.

You may - or may not - know that facebook has today barred all posting and sharing of news in Australia.
It is a salutary lesson that if you leave regulation to organisations like facebook, Google, Amazon and Apple, then this is the sort of bullshit cowboy behaviour you can expect from such monopolies. There sure doesn't appear to have been much in the way of democratic process in facebooks actions.
