I look on the Internet for new knowledge almost everyday. Most of the time is new or additional knowledge of something I know at least a little about. Today I learmed there are "Hildas" Geeks and Trojan along with common asteroids.
My thoughts are if a person sticks to what they were taught, they don't look for other reasons how or why things happen when newer or better information becomes available.
Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth...... is good enough for my W to stop there but I want to know more.
Many people do not know how the sun works and how hydrogen is converted to helium and why the sun shines.
I forget so much of what I discover but a brain can only hold so much information when something new dislodges something old.
not really but it is a good excuse for us older folks.
Another good source of "how did things get discovered" are the videos from "The Royal Institution"

I learned what not to say to a big Bulgarian plumber. Each time I flush the toilet the pipes in the wall start vibrating madly...air in the line? I replaced the toilet fill valve and the water expansion tank. Didn't fix it. I checked the water pressure and it was ~100 psi. So called a plumber to replace the water pressure regulator valve. He arrives and quickly tells me the water expansion tank is leaking. So I asked him to fix that too. After he removed it and reinstalled it I got my ladder to check his work. He asked if it was leaking. I said, Not yet. Bad answer. He shook his head and said 'If I fix it it won't leak. But if you fix it it will leak.' Haha. (He replaced the pressure regulator too and set pressure to normal 70 psi.)

Iwoetin I checked the water pressure and it was ~100 PSI.
100PSI, that is a lot of pressure. I have a well and pump and it operate on 35 or 40 PSI. With the lower pressure, things (the pump) lasts longer.
I am used to no pressure and had a hand-pump and a well in the yard until 5th grade so even 10 PSI was a big improvement.

I have been learning so much about how the universe works by watching "Cosmos" hosted by Neil DeGrasse-Tyson... the 2013 episodes are available on Disney+.
Fascinating stuff.... from talking about molecules right up to the expanses of the universe... to how dogs came to be as well as the small life forms on the earth...

Neil DeGrasse-Tyson rules in my opinion. I have watched his videos for about 8-10 years.Tyson's best line for me is "just because a lot of people believe something is true, that does not make it true." I knew about the asteroid belt but contrary to popular moves, asteroids are far apart. I didn't know about asteroids close to Jupiter but it came to me when I woke up this morning, Lagrange point. There are asteroid like objects in the Earth's orbit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagrange_point at points L4 and L5 If you are impressed with images from the Hubble telescope wait until the James Webb is operational. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) will be positioned at L-2. The JWST must be kept under 50 K (−220 °C; −370 °F) colder=better images.
Speaking about cold, I had an MRI yesterday. The machine has a part called the "cold head" and needs to be at 4.2 Kelvin. That is -452.11F or -268.95 C.

When I was at University, the more common toilet wall sarcastic version of that went : "Eat shit, 10 billion flies can't be wrong".
You wouldn't believe how often I've encountered that "it must be true because so many people believe it" fallacy. And I remember the uni toilet walls and snigger.

Like you I love to learn as well. about the heavens, atoms, fields, . However to avoid repeating last year's $75 violation fee for my lawn, I am trying to decide which grass to plant, maybe mix different types like centipede/bluegrass/ryegrass/bermuda and hopefully something grows under the sun and snow. All this is good distraction until we die.

Stupid, but I learned the Orinoco is not a tributary of the Amazon!! Geography degree, lotsa atlases, brain the size of a planet and it took me 65 years to notice it flows North.

Lessingham, Orinoco is also a geological area in Montana. It also has 2 houses, who knew.
Lessingham, the Orinoco DOES flow into the Amazon River but you spelled it(Orinoco) wrong. The correct spelling is "Rio Negro."
lwoetin However to avoid repeating last year's $75 violation fee for my lawn, .......A fine because of grass? That sounds rather harsh. All this is good distraction until we die.Yes, I spend my time finding interesting people, places and activities instead of thinking about sexual things. This is one way to be not as frustrated sexually.

This is one way to be not as frustrated sexually. I asked my neighbor's parents who have been married for 50 yrs what is the secret. The husband said we stay away from each other. We all had a good laugh although he sounded serious. Yup, it seems like a good idea to hang out with interesting people and have some independent activities from spouse...perhaps not sexual though. People have a fascination with grass around here! I'm totally happy with crabgrass and clover. I'm going to get kicked out of the neighborhood.

lwoetin if you have any grass seed left over the mice will find it and leave you with a mess. BTDT and so have a few other people I know.
I went to a square dance club for almost 2 years without my W. I got to liking my much younger partner a bit too much and quit so I wouldn't make a fool of myself. The square dance thing was my W's idea, she went a few times and decided it was too difficult, then quit. I just kept going.
All though square dancing was only touching other women it felt good to be gripped firmly by my main partner and do the same to her. At the time I was under the impression younger women only liked younger men and to her I might be "over the hill." My W's idea at the time was "no fool like an old fool." Or in universal English "being an old fools is the worst kind of stupidity."

I would go 2 years square dancing if I find a much younger partner. Sign me up! Like you, I think I would be uncomfortable hooking up with a much younger partner too. Unless I was Harrison Ford.

lwoetin, knowing I liked someone but liking someone might complicate that person's life in the future is something I try to avoid. My idea of fairness is, it has to be good for everyone or I don't go there.
Had the dance partner been my age and in a similar situation, who knows what might have happened.

So why haven't you gone square dancing with a partner around your age? Are you content with staying in your marriage? Do you need to fulfill anything else in life that you cannot do in your marriage? I will not find the proverbial WAP within my marriage but I think I will survive and not regret it.

Square dance callers have a rythum or speed and a pitch to their voice. It takes my brain a while to understand the "call" or the mental process to execute the move. I noticed on the last video my response time after the call was made, I was a little slower than some of the younger people and I felt like maybe I was lagging behind some folks. The group is segregated into beginner, mid and advanced people. Each group has people in it from 14 to 75 years of age. There are close to 100 calls and I had to figure out what to do and which way to turn for each call. Which way I moved depended on one of the 4 home positions I started at at the beginning of each dance. Yes, everyone made mistakes and everyone got along well. Maybe I wanted to be near perfect but not forgiving enough for my occasional mistakes.
This was 8-10 years ago and at that time I didn't think I could step out on the marriage "IF" I liked someone my age. A 20 or 25 younger woman was out of the question at the time.
One year ago I had appendix/colon surgery and I and some additional treatments, so right now I am still recuperating and this covid-19 has me in a self protection - isolation mode. I don't have any life fulling needs at the present. I do most of my bucket-list, things that interest me, and learning new things via the Internet, Youtube, Wikipedia and etc.
I was never hoping for a WAP but some mutually pleasant touching with a compatible person sure would be nice.
