We are all a little broken. I hope you find comfort in seeing all the different places, professions, life styles and stages of marriage we are all in. We'd be happy to read your story when you are ready

Well my therapist hasn't been so helpful except he listens and encourages me to talk to my wife more about it. But my wife doesn't want to discuss it further because she says it makes her feel bad to talk about it. My therapist has suggested I find other healthy outlets: yoga, mediation, exercise, etc. The alternative of leaving my marriage built over 40 years just seems so foreign to me. But I am going to try meditation and yoga this summer when work calms down a bit.

thanks, I will try it. My wife was in pain last time we did it. Hopefully menopause is not around the corner. She said it was a mixture of pain and pleasure. She was at CVS pharmacy the next day and looked at alternatives. Worth trying. Many thanks. My life can't get any more complex... my wife's annual "female" check up reveals she has "atrophy" and its basically closed up which is why it hurts. The doctor had a hard time doing her exam. Basically she said there is really no hope for sex. And she reminds me she has no interest--she is "sorry" but that is the way it is.

Just because you can't do vaginal intercourse, does not justify stopping everything. Her "sorry" is directed to you and to tell you there is no longer any hope.

Right, no HRT. The reason is that she had a breast cancer scare four years ago and she won't risk it. Of course, I suppose you have to care about the lack of sex and want it to change then you can find solutions.
